| Mission: | Escape to L.A. |
| Transportation: | Trains, trains, trains. |
| Expense account: | Minimal |
| Wackiness: | Abundant |
| For Atmosphere: | Hum"Secret Agent Man" while reading this. |
Seek out location of The Chief. We find him located at the Inkworks Card booth (temporary headquarters) signing autographs and taking pictures with his fans. (Note: The Chief leads double life as a famous actor.) Agents decide to investigate ComicCon for one hour while The Chief is otherwise occupied, besides security is present in a perimeter surrounding him.
Agents amuse selves by people watching, before making their way back to temporary headquarters for meeting with The Chief. Mission directive packets are handed over to agents with strict instructions to wait 24 hours before opening. Agents return home via trolley.
A light dinner is enjoyed. Agents relax briefly before realizing they need to leave to go pick up Rookie Agent (new to the team) at Lindbergh Field. She is due to arrive under the cover of darkness. Rookie Agent is acting as courier to The Chiefs girl Friday, delivering a large package from the CONvergence affiliate organization.
Meal rations include cheese sandwiches and French brioche. Train Conductor offers further sustenance. He looks suspicious. We accept these fake picnic boxes and examine contents using x-ray sunglasses. Looks harmless, but Rookie Agent from Oregon is used as test subject. While most of this food is substandard, she survives experiment.
As 24 hours have lapsed, we open our mission directive packets. Read instructions, study maps and destroy the evidence. Train makes several more stops and car becomes more crowded. We practice our ability to conceal ourselves as tourists with mindless chitchat. Pull into L.A.s Union Station at 4:05PM. We are on schedule. Make our way through the crush of people to the Metroline. Board the Red line and make our way north to the Hollywood and Highland stop. Using stealth, we ascend the escalator to street level. This is Hollywood. Our accommodations at the Renaissance Hollywood are very glamorous. Booking coordinator must have used government employee discount. Hopefully, our cover isnt blown before we even begin.
Check in, find and secure our room. Were on the same level as the pool and workout room. Did everyone remember their swimming suits? Oh no, two of three operatives have forgotten to pack suits. No pool time for the wicked. Room has a view of the Hollywood sign. Hmm, not bad. Not bad at all. Next mission phase is not until tomorrow morning, we begin polishing our skills: following suspects, disappearing into the crowd, photographic evidence and avoiding opposing agents.
Discover Traverses Italian restaurant near the hotel. Rookie Agent falls in love with pesto sauce. All agents agree the vegetarian selection is delightful and reasonably priced. Most fashionable Senior Agent finds an Audrey Hepburn book she must have. Bargains with seller for discount. Not too hard, since threatening him might reveal skills nice girls from New England do not usually possess. Besides, his car was used in the Fast & the Furious, which Rookie Agent who admires Vin Diesel found entertaining.
Operatives return to hotel, shower and review plans for the following day. Have several alternatives in place, dependent on Informant making contact to confirm meeting location.
11:20 p.m.: Informant calls, confirms rendezvous location and code names for meeting the next morning. All agents retire for a good night sleep.
First transfer of trains occurs without incident. All agents now on train travelling west. Arrive at second transfer point (to throw off enemy agents): Rosa Parks Station. Informant calls concerned as agents are now fifteen minutes late for scheduled appointment. Because of highway noise, discretion is thrown to wind as Senior Agent shouts into cellular phone to be heard by Informant. Precise meeting location is now confirmed, and disguise of Informant is revealed to Senior Agent for positive identification.
Arrive at final Metroline stop. Call organization for camouflaged transportation to meeting location. Wait fifteen minutes for transportation to arrive. On way to meeting, miniscule details are fine-tuned. Agents dropped off two blocks from meeting location to throw off enemy spies. Walk to the edge of the pier, are immediately distracted by a team of foreign undercover agents wearing "Hollygrove" t-shirts.
Trying to appear incognito, agents contact the Information Booth appearing to be lost. Receive extremely vague instructions. (Note: must be working for the enemy). Despite this, we find location anyway, but no Informant. Has he gone to demonstrate athletic prowess as part of his cover? Return to Information Booth for further directions to maintain Informants cover.
Wander around masquerading as tourists until exact location of Informant is discovered. Agents converge outside of volleyball court disguised as fans: taking pictures, watching game, etc. To blend in, we request players autographs, and are given the secret hug by Informant signifying recognition.
Informant leads agents to a discrete location for disclosure of information. Secret messages are written in code on various items and pictures for agents to decipher at headquarters. All agents remain to watch one additional volleyball game in order to maintain our disguise.
Next stop, rations. Rookie Agent requires sustenance so a neutral location with adequate vegetarian selections is sought out. Following nourishment, all agents are given a ride to the Metroline by the Rookie Agents "Aunt & Uncle Notti."
Now in possession of potentially valuable information, agents return to luxurious accommodations. Secret materials are now locked safely in hotel vault. All agents remove disguises and proceed to go shopping in order to maintain tourist appearance.
Agents refuel at famous Chin Chin (Chinese) restaurant on Sunset Boulevard, carefully checking for suspicious individuals who are eating with forks. Return to hotel via camouflaged transportation. Relax poolside for an hour before retiring to bed.
Organization transport picks us up and delivers us to the rendezvous location. Lunch is ordered. While agents practice their ability of blending in with the general population The Chief enters the building. Tall, blond, distinctive looking, he would garnish stares anywhere in the world except possibly in Hollywood.
Documents are delivered into the secure hands of The Chief without incident. The Chief maintains vocal conversation with agents while scribbling instructions to agents in Ancient Greek text on restaurant napkins. Now armed with new mission directives, agents make their way to Union Station, boarding their Amtrak train with five minutes to spare. Train ambles south.
Rookie Agent decides to investigate train in search of beverage refreshments for the trip. Returns in moments with a fantastic selection. Discussing surf and sand in an attempt to confuse enemy agents, messages written in Latin convey our true thoughts on the successful nature of our first mission together, and what our next mission will bring.
After sufficient traveling time has passed, the train pulls into the San Diego "Santa Fe" depot. As they disembark, agents scan scenery for the closest exit that will lead to the San Diego Trolley (run by The Organization). Now heading east, agents on guard as they begin to contemplate the minute details of their new assignment, which was deciphered on the train. Arrive at station stop to find The Organization has sent transportation to take us to the safe house for preparation for our next mission. All agents unpack and relax, as they have twelve hours before they leave on their next mission.
