Please submit your questions to Anthony via the forum.

Is Anthony single?
No. Anthony is married. He has chosen not to answer questions about his family, so we will respect his privacy. We also will not forward any questions regarding them.

What is the one thing that people mis-interpret about you? (Travelingdog)
"People think I'm arrogant and aloof.  I'm nearsighted and I pass people by without acknowledging them." (Added 4/17/04)

Paper or plastic? (Jessica)
"Cotton drawstring bags." (Added 7/1/03)

Do you have a movie that is a "guilty pleasure" -something that you love but would be mildly embarrassed if someone found out about it? (Jessica)
"'52 Pickup.' It may be considered sleazy and lowbrow, but John Glover creates one of the all-time greatest villains ever. It's an inspired, looney, unforgettable performance, and for a "B-movie," the cast is wildly eclectic -- where else can one find Ann-Margaret and Clarence Williams, III sharing screentime? The elements that make up this movie are so weird, but for me it somehow works." (Added 6/28/03)

Do you have a nickname (current or past) that you would be willing to share with your fans? (Lynn)
"In grade school, a mobster, Tony "Pro" Provenzano was in the news, and for a short while, that was my nickname. Done." (Added 6/27/03)

There was a mild controversy with the Oscars this year. The actor who did body work and the voice of "Gollum" in The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers didn't get a nomination. I read in some trade press that it was because the Academy didn't consider computer-generated characters (like Gollum) to be the same quality of work as a flesh and blood actor. My question then is this: Should it matter if an actor appears on the screen for his/her work in a film to be recognized? (Tricia "Kazi Wren" Harris)
"Nothing qualifies me to answer this question, but it seems computer generation removes the actor by one step and would be more appropriate for an effects Oscar -- and the actor should definitely share in the credit of creating the effect. I also can't imagine the Academy would ever place into contention an actor's performance from another film digitally manipulated to appear in a new film. Ultimately the Oscars for acting are inherently unfair -- unless we had the chance to see all actors performing the same role in multiple versions of the same picture." (Added 6/26/03)

A few questions for Anthony in honor of his own artwork: Who is your favorite artist ? Do you have a favorite style (Abstract, Impressionism...)? What is your favorite medium (paintings, sculpture...)? (Dee)
"Tough questions. I'm interested in everyone from Guido Reni to Robert Longo. As a kid, I liked the work of NC Wyeth, and I still like the great illustrators. Watercolors fascinate me because the medium seems so difficult to control. I also like "outsider" art, where the artist has had no formal training." (Added 1/16/04)

What did you do for the holidays? Any unexpected  presents? Did you ever use our birthday G.C.? (Amane)
"I spent a very nice low-key holiday at home. And thanks again for the Gift Card--there are a number of books that have caught my eye. I'll make a decision soon." (Added 1/22/04)

What were you like in high school? What would your teachers or coaches say about you? (Toni)
"I felt like I was standing on the sidelines for high school if that makes any sense, so I don't know that my teachers would have any recollection of me." (Added 1/26/04)

What is your favorite current tv show? Classic? (Mary)
"I'm taken by Line of Fire at the moment. And I always was a fan of Cheers." (Added 1/30/04)

Are you a night owl or an early bird? Do you have a favourite season? Why?(Chris)
"I do best in the mornings. I like January-March for practical reasons -- here in Los Angeles the air quality is usually at its best. When I was back East, the fall was my favorite." (Added 2/3/04)

What were your favourite places to visit in Canada?  Did you stand on the glass floor at the CN Tower?  When's the next time you plan on coming to Canada? (Chris)
"There were so many. In Toronto--CanStage, the ROM, Bloor Street -- all The neighborhoods have their own appealing character. I'm also partial to Victoria, having spent my honeymoon there. And speaking of weddings, I'll be attending one in Toronto in February (maybe then I'll visit the CN Tower)." (Added 2/4/04)

Are you planning on coming to DragonCon? We would love to see you. (LadyWilhelmina)
"No plans at this point" (Added 8/30/03).

We know how your characters dress, but how do you like to dress? What label(s) do you find yourself buying repeatedly? (Miao-meng)
"It's been a while. I like the Italian labels." (Added 9/7/03)

What was the first concert you ever went to? (Susan)
"Tom Johnson (after the Doobie Brothers), and Sammy Hagar." (Added 9/8/03)

Are you a Monty Python fan? If so, do you have a favourite sketch? What about Britcoms in general? (Amanda)
"When I was studying in the South of France, I'd been speaking French, reading French, eating French -- but I fell of the wagon when I saw a theater playing Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life." I've always liked their sketch work. My favorites are all the usual crowd pleasers, walking funny, the parrot, etc." (Added 9/9/03)

What were your favourite places to visit in Canada? Did you stand on the glass floor at the CN Tower? When's the next time you plan on coming to Canada? (Chris)

"Go see Liza Richardson spin records at Sugar in Santa Monica (her schedule varies, usually Friday/Saturday nights, call first)." (Added 7/10/03)

What are your top three *must have* CD's? (Miao-meng)
"Depending on the circumstances, they change. This week I'm somewhere in the 60's/70's . . . Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon," David Bowie, "The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust," and then I'd ask you to recommend a third." (Added 7/9/03)

I understand you are a vegetarian. Are there any meat dishes that pose a serious temptation? (Gloria "wormie" Ramos)
“As a kid, my favorite meal was corned beef and cabbage. And nothing smells better than a steak on a grille.” (Added 12/23/02)

What is your favorite dramatic movie? comedy? (So_Cal_Susan)
"I have many. Off the top of my head The Night Of The Hunter, The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven, just about anything by Sergio Leone, Where's Poppa? (weird, irreverent, just plain wrong . .. but very funny . . .),North By Northwest (and anything else by Hitchcock), Godfather I & II, Truewest (w/ Malkovich & Sinise), 8 1/2, The Seven Beauties, I could go on . I tend to like trash as much as the "art" films. . . " (Added 10/17/02)

What kind of music do you listen to? Favorite Groups? Artists?
"David Bowie, Iggy Pop/Stooges. I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, the Who, Van Halen -- all the usual suspects. I keep listening to Rollins Band's "Get Some/Go Again." During shooting in Toronto, I came across Hawksley Workman's debut album ´èý loved the playful attitude."

Favorite actors, actresses?(Amane)
"Jeff Bridges (exceptional in delivering understated performances). I always like the off-center performances of Christopher Walken and John Malkovich. As far as women go, Vanessa Redgrave is hard to beat. Ellen Burstyn (robbed of an Oscar for Requiem For A Dream). Can I say Yancy Butler? I want to see her do a comedy."

Are you still fluent in French? Any other languages?
"With a little practice I would be. I want to be fluent in Italian as well."

Can you sing?
"If the role calls for it."

"I love to -- my father used to cook in our family and he taught me quite a bit."

What is your favorite wine? Drink? (Darkheart_77)
"I like wine, but I rarely drink alcohol. Water is my beverage."

What are your favorite wind-down activities?(Karma101)
"Swimming and reading."

What is your favorite color?
Purple.

What is your favorite book? Or genre?(Lovuian)
"My favorites come and go with the tide, so I tend to think about books I've recently read. The Orchid Thief, by Susan Orleans, was great. For the role of "Irons" I read The Power Broker, a tremendous account of the rise and fall of Robert Moses, the great builder. It offered an example of how power truly functions within a big city. While shooting in Toronto, I met a local author whose work I liked -- Russell Smith. He has a novel coming out after Young Men that's quite funny."

Are you involved with any charities?(Miao-meng)
"I'm looking for greater involvement. I like the work of the Carter Center and Habitat For Humanity. I also consider education a priority and donate to academic causes."

If you had to take a flight from DFW to La Guardia and that flight was unavoidably delayed such that you found yourself sitting at the airport for 6 hours overnight until the next flight, who (other than a member of your family) would you most enjoy coincidentally running into and spending that 6 hours with and why?(Enid Ann)
"It would have to be David Bowie. I'm impressed with how he manages to reinvent himself again and again and remain relevant. He strikes me as incredibly well-read. " (Added 11/21/04)

Which in your opinion has been the worst movie ever made to date? What made it so terrible? (Travelingdog)
"That's tricky. The typical "Worst movie" lists tend to have movies that are entertaining-if for all the wrong reasons. For me, the worst movie would have to be dullest, most forgettable movie, and -- sorry to say, I've forgotten it already. " (Added 11/25/04)

For the past 2 weeks on Nip/Tuck (my favorite guilty pleasure program) they discussed Sean and Christian (the 2 main characters) turning 40 and all the anxiety that accompanied it. I was surprised when my husband, also in his early 40's indicated that men are very very anxious about turning 40, probably moreso than women. You were recently in the stage production of "The New 30" which I believe echoes the oft-repeated cliche' that 40 is the new 30. With these things in mind, do you feel that men are more anxious about turning 40 than they were in the past? (Enid Ann)
"Actually I think men have bought themselves 10 extra years. It's probably Age 50 that hits hardest these days - I'll have to tell you when I get there. " (Added 12/1/04)

You participated in the swim leg of the 2004 Nautica Triathlon, can you explain how it feels to participate in such an event and to swim in open ocean? (Travelingdog)
"The event gives me a great opportunity to do something with my good friends David Chokachi and Eric Etebari – that’s the reason I do it. As for swimming in open water, it’s a return to somewhere before I was born. " (Added 8/3/05)

I find that when I have the opportunity to view nighttime drama, I'm drawn to darker and arguably more cynical shows. Some of my favorites are Six Feet Under, Nip/Tuck, the Shield and Dead Like Me. Anthony, do you have any shows that you watch religiously? And if so, why do those particular shows appeal to you? (Enid Ann)
" I just got cable - I'll get back to you." (Added 8/8/05)

If you follow baseball, during the 2004 World Series were you rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals or the Boston Red Sox? (Enid Ann)
"Having spent two years in Cambridge and Boston in the shadows of the Fenway - I think you can deduce my response." (Added 8/8/05)

If you could go back in time, what era do you imagine yourself living in and what would be your profession? (Travelingdog)
"1950's, beach lifeguard in Santa Monica ( I have 1,000 different answers to this question, depending upon my state of mind at the time of the query)." (Added 8/10/05)

It was posted that Brian Metcalf was preparing a comic book companion for The Dreamless. Are you or were you ever a comic book aficionado and if so what are some of the titles you enjoyed? (Enid Ann)
"I started collecting comic books right when Howard the Duck hit. It was the hottest -selling comic book at the time. Within a few months, the first issue was commanding record prices. . I was a Marvel Comics fan. I've always loved Will Eisner's The Spirit. Very cinematic. When I was growing up, the kid next door spoke French - he used to translate his Tintin comics for me - I still think they're cool. I now recommend anything put out by Brian Haberlin and Avalon Studios." (Added 8/25/05)

Do you have any collections or find that you tend to accumulate a particular type of item? (Enid Ann)
"I love old fountain pens and pocket watches - I don't collect them yet - but some day I will." (Added 8/26/05)
